Meet Judith Kinsman

Monday, June 29th, 2009
Hidden Pond is pleased to introduce Judith Kinsman, our resident artist and watercolor extraordinarre.
“Maine artist, Judith Kinsman, brings a feeling of warmth and involvement to her work, using vivid color to accent florals and landscapes.  Influenced as a child by her grandmother’s watercolors and flowering gardens, Judith brings a bold and colorful approach to her favorite subject matter. As she has developed as an artist, she has increasingly connected to the luminescence and flow of watercolors.  Primarily a self-taught artist, she delights in the use of negative space demonstrating the heart and spirit of her paintings”
Judith offers group painting classes to the Hidden Pond guests on Tuesdays at the artist’s studio in the Farm.  She is also available for private lessons as requested.
Book your stay at Hidden Pond, grab your palette and brush and start painting!

On a side note, the rain in Maine hasn’t spoiled our fun at HP and we’re due for some blue skies and hot rays soon!  Kennebunkport came alive this weekend with visitors and the Fourth of July is going to prove to be one of the best yet!

Celebrate Summer!

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

In honor of the summer solstice, the staff at Hidden Pond has compiled a list of the Six Simply Superb Summer activities to partake in during your time at Hidden Pond (drumroll, please!):

1. Sip on a Shipyard Summer Ale at the Back Porch Bar

2. See what the summer sun has produced down at our very own organic farm.

3. Join the Beach Safari or bike down to Goose Rocks Beach for a day of waves and rays.

4. Book a stress melting massage at the Spa – because stress and summer should be polar opposites!

5. Choose from Yoga, a Personal Trainer, or simply self-motivation at our Farmfront Fitness Center

6. Cocktails, cocktails, cocktails!

On a side note, Fawn’s Pass is attracting quite the attention due to it’s lounge-worthy hammock…no one can resist a hammock!

Hidden Pond brings out the poet in you…

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

Check out this poem written by our very own guests, Shirley and Kyu, who were so inspired by their cottage (Lucky), Hidden Pond, and their vacation in Kennebunkport that they wrote a poem expressing their feelings:

What Holds Me Here At Hidden Pond

Waking up to the singing of birds

Falling asleep to the sounds of quiet nature.

Spending days with

heavenly clouds

acres of fragrant trees

summer grasses

embrace our picture perfect cottage.

Peace

Empty thoughts

Free spirited

flows like the calm gentle breeze.

Hidden Pond – you are my Zen

The Back Porch!

The Back Porch is open for the season!  What a great way to spend the evening — cocktails at the bar with friends and family.  The bar opens up at 5pm and is always ready to pour you a local ale, delicious glass of wine or irresistable cocktail.

If the hanging out at the bar isn’t your style, head out to the Sandbar for the nightly roaring bonfire and roast a marshmallow or two (or three)…

Every night the bartender dreams up a ”Cocktail of the Day”…and let me tell you, they’re real good.

Here are recipes for two of our favorites:

Justin’s Gin and Ginger: Tanqueray, Ginger Ale, Lemon & Lime

Wicked Wonderland: Absolut, Grenadine, Soda, Lemon & Lime

Try these at home on a beautiful summer evening, but just remember cocktails always taste better when you’re at Hidden Pond in Kennebunkport, Maine!
