Spring has arrived at Hidden Pond!

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

As this blog entry is being written the sun is shining and the temperature is threatening to rise above 50 degrees for the second time this March!  Everyone at Hidden Pond is eagerly anticipating our opening on May 1st.  In preparation for that magic date, we have been diligently working on plans for some exciting new features at Hidden Pond.  Among other enhancements, plans are in the works for a birch bar tucked in to the Ledges screened porch, a rustic beach forest lounge where guests will be able to order lunch from the new Hidden Pond grill, and an innovative new chef’s table program where local and visiting chefs will explore compelling “farm to table” menus.

With shoulder season rates starting at $395 a night, May is a great time to plan a visit to Hidden Pond.  If you have the luxury of traveling during the week, Kennebunkport makes a great destination for a quick getaway.  Each of our cottags has a gas fireplace to take the chill off of an early spring evening…and we’re just under a mile from Goose Rocks beach, where you’ll find miles of white sand for early morning walks.

Robb Report – Hidden Pond dubbed one of the World’s Best New Resorts

Friday, March 6th, 2009

In the January Travel Issue of the Robb Report, Hidden Pond has been selected with 22 other distinctive properties as one of the world’s best new resorts.  Rochelle Lash comments that Hidden Pond is “the kind of place where families can catch frogs, ride bikes, and climb trees in birch and balsam-fir forests . . . but that the property caters equally well to couples seeking a retreat from their children, with its lighthouse tours, lobster-boat cruises, yoga sessions next to the swimming pool, and painting classes in the garden on sunny days.”

Another writer recently called Hidden Pond the “Ritz-Carlton of adult summer camps.”  Both of these writers captured the essence of our “flip-flop chic” personality.  Our goal is to be a place where you can be as involved or removed from daily life as possible,  where you can hike through the woods, venture into town, or even enjoy the daily newspaper on your own porch well into the afternoon.  There aren’t many occasions in modern life that afford the luxury of escape.  The Hidden Pond experience is designed to make that escape possible.
